Day 13 - Friday 22nd October

13.....unlucky for some......fortunately, not for the running today.

Another 3 miles, 20 seconds quicker than yesterday, and another 1lb lost, so all happy and on track.

Anyway, lots to do today, so it's short and sweet.

Happy running everyone, and until next time.

Day 12 - Thursday 21st October

Afternoon Bloggers and Blogees

Well here is the first update of the week from me, although it's not all been sitting about doing nothing. I swear, I probably put weight back on last watching the Spurs game, talk about depression, followed by so nearly drawing level hahah, can't wait for the Lane on the 2nd though!

Anyway, still training this week so got over the first hurdle of stopping after a few days, and even with a little blip on Tuesday of a Chinese for tea, it's still just about on track. Weight loss hasn't been as good this week, but that's not a surprise, but still going in the right direction, and now at 15st 5.8lbs, edging close to the 14's, so game on. Also, raised the bar now for running, and moved from 2.5 miles, up to a new circuit which is 3 miles, not much you may say, but there ain't any flat bits round here, so that extra 0.5 mile is not easy. Set the standard today at just over 27 1/2 mins, so watch this space. Also delighted to report that the waist is starting to shrink too, albeit it only by 0.5" so far, but it's better than nothing.

So with the first 10 days out the way, what is the first real milestone? I am aiming to be under 15st by the first week in November, and that seems achievable.

Anyway, until next time, take care.

Day 6 - Friday 15th October

Well, I know it says in all the plans, you must have rest days, and I am sure, like many other folks trying to get fit, or train, or whatever, they usually ignore this advice. All I can say, is DONT!!!!  Today should have been a rest day for me, but it was a lovely Autumn morning, and I figured, what harm does a 2.5 mile cross country run do........funnily enough, I realised what harm it does as I was projectile throwing up on the last mile heading back home....ooops!!!!

Not all bad news though however, managed to whack an astonishing 2.5 minutes (yes not seconds, minutes) of my personal best time for the distance, so now just a little over  21 minutes for the 2.5 mile circuit (and its a hilly one, trust me), which makes me very happy indeed.

Might even treat myself to a jump on the scales later just to see if it was worth it.

Anyway, tomorrow is for sure a rest day, so no updates until Sunday when a 10 mile cycle is planned.

Enjoy your weekends, and until next time.

Day 5 - Thursday 14th October

Decided not to run today, but to go for a swim in the evening, and very pleasant is was too. Target of 24 lengths was achieved in just under 30 minutes, which I know, is incredibly slow, but it's been a long time since I swam, and in all honesty, I was hurting like hell by the end of it.

Followed the swim up with a 350 calorie Weightwatcher meal, so was sore, tired, and still hungry when I went to bed!

Until next time

Day 4 - Wednesday 13th October

Another day, another dollar....or another run up Salibury Plain in the early hours.

Pleased to say it all went very well and a new PB of 23 Mins 46.3 Secs achieved for the 2.5 mile circuit which is a not too shabby 23 seconds quicker than Monday. Also, I couldn't resist a little sneaky peak on the scales to see if any of this has been worth it, and I am glad to report that in the first 3 days, a loss of 4.2lbs has been achieved, which is already ahead of my weekly target of 4lbs.

So it is very much indeed, Game on.

Until the next time

Day 3 - Tuesday 12th October

Well another day is over, and I am a little bit closer to my target (albeit, probably a very tiny bit closer hehe).

Today's activity was getting back to Spinning Class, its been a while, over 3 years, but it was fantastic, and very enjoyable. Surprisingly didn't feel too bad, although the legs are tightening up a little now, but that was to be expected.

Its a lovely clear night outside, so looking forward to a run up Salsbury Plain on an Autums morning before yet another hectic day at work.

Worth noting that no alcohol this week, no sweets this week, and no crisps this week so far. Hope to shed maybe 3 or 4 lbs this week, but resisting checking until a week is past.

Anyway, until next time

Day 2 - Monday 11th October

Start as you mean to go on I always say :-)

A nice cross country run on Salisbury Plain this morning in the Autum sunshine = 1 Dirty Springer Spaniel, and sore legs for my good self. Just a gentle start though with a small 2.5 miler to get the cob webs off, and have to say, feeling good for it (at the moment). A little dissappointed in the time, but I certainly wasn't pushing it on the first morning, but 2.5 miles cross country in 24 mins 9.7 secs isn't the worst time that will ever be set, still under a 10 minutes mile, which is something to work on.

Anyway, it's time for a nice bowl of porridge and a glass of milk (semi skimmed of course) to recharge for the day ahead. Might even go out on the bike later, who knows.

Until next time

Day 1 - Sunday 10th October

Well I have finally started on what is very likely going to be a long road filled with pain, anguish, but ulitmately huge reward if I can achieve all my goals.

The aim is to be fit enough to compete in the London Marathon in 2012. This journey starts today, and I hope to run in at least 3 x10K races and 3 x Half Marathos finishing in London with the Marathon. The other challenge of course is to lose quite a significant amount of weight, with my target being 12st 7lbs.

The initial weigh in has been done, and tonight I weigh in at 15st 12lbs, so nearly 3 1/2 st to lose. Over the next weeks and months, I will update this Blog highlighting my progress both in terms of weight loss, and my overall fitness level.

Obviously, the benefits to me need no explaining, but I am going to ask all my friends and family (and anyone else who feels so inclined) to sponsor me on this journey, and the proceeds will be split evenly to the charities highlighted below.

Cancer Research
Great Ormand Street Hospital
Wiltshire Air Ambulance

Well enough for today and let the challenge commence
